Intended application: It is used as a laparoscopic endo-camera which attaches to the back end of rigid laparoscopes for a procedure of diagnostic and advanced therapeutic laparoscopies

Laparoscopy camera has widespread application in therapeutic laparoscopy as well as diagnostic laparoscopy. It aids in the visualization of internal organs via a tiny cut, thereby reducing the invasive nature of the surgery and recovery period. Some of the important applications are:

  • Diagnosis of Abdominal or Pelvic Pain:  Laparoscopy camera allows physicians to inspect inner organs such as the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, liver, and intestines with caution.
  • Detection of Tumors and Cancers: High definition images help detect even the minute or incipient growths.
  • Surgical Procedures: Used in many surgeries like removal of gallbladder (cholecystectomy) and appendix (appendectomy).
  • Therapeutic Laparoscopy: Allows accurate handling in complicated surgeries.

Crystal-clear and high-definition images provided by this endo camera enhance real-time decision-making ability of a surgeon, thus improving surgical outcomes.

Utilization

  • Sterilization: The instrument must be sterilized by applying ethylene oxide (ETO) gas prior to any procedure for hygiene and patient safety.
  • Patient Positioning: Lithotomy position is provided to the patient, which allows easy access to the abdominal or pelvic region.
  • Device Connection: The camera is attached to a display screen with the help of a USB cable. A special software interface is employed for video capture and image taking.
  • Adapter Setup: The non-zoom or zoom adapter is attached to the telescope by screwing it. The focus ring is turned to get a clear and sharp image.
  • Recording and Monitoring: The high-definition pictures are viewed on the screen in real time while the surgeon manipulates the laparoscope within the body, and images/videos are recorded.
  • Post-Procedure: The camera is taken out and sterilized after the procedure to be reused.
